It rained on us again last night, but cleared up for a bright sunny morning. Breakfast was cereal and fruit. Today we headed out on a 20 km ride on a bike path around a canal and lake. Much of the path was tree covered with moss and snails on it. I was riding with Clare, one of the US ladies, and as we went around a 90 deg corner she slipped and fell. It was all I could do to avoid hitting her. She was OK, but had a good road rash on her leg. Several km down the trail we came across one of the Canadian men who had hit a snail and gone down. He had a big shiner on his face. We learned not to mess with French snails!! The rest of the ride was through rolling hills and vineyards, a lot like where we lived in Germany. This was the Champaign region, but we were out of season for tasting.
Lunch was French cheeses and ham on a French roll. I am really getting more than my quota of cheese, but it was tasty.
Our campsite is nice and in town, but next to a busy highway, so the noise is a problem for sound sleeping. I understand that this is fairly common and one has to get used to it.
